What form might a celebration of flagrant queerness, an overt implosion of gender norms, created in a seeming frenzy of detritus, sequins, and remnants of some imaginary deceased drag queen’s estate take on? This past summer, Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre offered a glimpse at one possible answer through the presentation of a modestly-sized yet fantastical array of costumes, photography, short video, and stylized vitrines for an exhibition of works by New York City-based artist and designer Machine Dazzle.
